ADVENTUROUS Scarborough adults are embarking on a 10,000 mile journey taking in 15 countries, three deserts and five mountain ranges...in a 2005 Mitsubishi Space Star.
The crazy crew, made up of twin sisters Jess and Kate Jameson, 26, Jonny Patrick, 24, Chris Mabbott, 24 and Tom Makin, 21 – also known as We Should Have Known Baatar – are taking on the 2012 Mongol Rally.
Raising money for Scarborough’s RNLI and the Mongolian Lotus Children’s charity, they’ll be setting off from Scarborough on July 13, winding through Europe, Kazakhstan and Russia en route to their final destination; Mongolian capital Ulaanbaatar. Use of satellite navigation is prohibited and their second-hand car has already clocked up over 100,000 miles, but the group remain positive in their mission.
Kate Jameson said: “It will be an adventure, but it’s for really honourable causes; I love the Lifeboat service, they do brave work yet are so humble about it. We’ve got a set fundraising target of £1,000, but we’re keen to get loads more.”
