SUPPORTERS of the Trafalgar Men’s Social Club in Scarborough have donated £500 to Saint Catherine’s Hospice.

The money was raised from a race night and a variety of raffles over recent months in the Trafalgar, in Trafalgar Street West.

The 19 members of the social club always decide on a local charity to benefit and like to spread their goodwill across all age groups in the town.

This year it was St Catherine’s turn to receive the cash.

Carolyn Jackson, fundraising team leader at Saint Catherine’s, thanked the members present and Tony Burnard, landlord at the Trafalgar.

On receiving the cheque from treasurer Tony Messruther, she said: “The money will be going directly towards patient care at the hospice as this will always be the priority.”

St Catherine’s Hospice provides specialist palliative care to adults within Scarborough, Whitby, Ryedale and parts of East Yorkshire, over an area of 1,600 square miles.

The annual running cost of this service is currently £4.5 million pounds
