A jeweller and his wife from Malton are celebrating after scooping the £500,000 Thunderball jackpot.

Brian Mills, 64, and his wife Joyce, 65, a housewife, are over the moon with their lucky win. Mr Mills discovered their good fortune when he popped into his local shop to check his numbers after buying his usual lottery ticket the previous day.

Brian said: “It was just a normal Friday morning and I nipped to my local shop for a morning paper on the way to work and bought a Thunderball Lucky Dip ticket as usual.

“On my way to work the next day, I thought I would go into the shop to check my ticket. The shop assistant said I had to contact Camelot so I phoned them straightaway. When they said we had won the jackpot I was completely shocked – I couldn’t believe it!”
