There’s a new business in town that’s unashamedly indulgent, over the top and ready to do some serious pooch pampering.

Salon treatments, from a bath and blow dry to a clip and trim, may make some paws for thought, but these are strictly for dogs at Millionhairs in Newborough.

Professional dog groomer Sammyjo Tuby, 24, is bringing the glitz and glamour, more commonly seen across the Atlantic, to Scarborough at the dog grooming spa.

“I like America and all the silly stuff that goes on there, and I just wanted to bring that novelty to Scarborough and modernise it,” she said. “For young girls like me, my dog’s my baby; I want to make a fuss of them and enjoy them.”

Styling, chipping, scissoring, ear plucking, de matting and poodle styling are some of the A-list doggy delights at Millionhairs. Or if your request, like one customer, is to make a Lhasa Apso look like a teddy, that can be taken care of too.

Dog owners needn’t feel left out though, they can sit in and get their own fish pedicure at the salon, which was formerly the home of Orchids fish spa.

Sammy-Jo’s own pets Sayka the Labrador and Princess Esmerellda the Jackawawa are already treated like royalty, but now she wants other tykes to share in the experience.

She added: “It’s a hairdressers for dogs but with a spa experience.

“It’s completely OTT, your dog gets pampered and fussed over.”
