KEEN drivers are being invited to the Scarborough Group of Advanced Motorists’ annual open event.
The ‘Meet the Group’ evening takes place on January 17, at Allatt House in West Parade Road at 7.30pm.
The event is designed as a chance for drivers to find out more about the group and the driving courses it offers.
Phil Brown, vice chairman of the group, said: “Advanced Driving is primarily about safe, skilful driving and in the past I have focused almost exclusively on this.
“But in these days of tight financial constraints it is worth mentioning that as a direct result of driving to an advanced standard and following advice given on our driving courses, substantial improvements in fuel consumption are made.”
The Scarborough Group of Advanced Motorists has been operating for 28 years as a road safety charity, putting almost 1,000 local drivers through training and the Advanced Driving Test.
Mr Brown added: “We welcome drivers of all ages and gender and are particularly keen to see young drivers as well as motorcyclists, for whom we have a dedicated training team.
“Why not come along to our Meet the Group event and find out more? Watch our presentation and chat informally with our members over light refreshments, and perhaps join our next Advanced Driving Course, starting in February.”
The charity runs a ten week, all inclusive advanced driving course throughout the year.
