A NEW cafe and book shop in Bar Street is holding its first literary event tomorrow where local poets will be carrying out book signings and recitals of their work.
Regional poets Jo Brandon, Norah Hanson, Steve Rudd, Felix Hodcroft, Miles Cain, James McLoughlin, Deirdre McGarry and Nigel Folds will be at Taylors in Bar Street from 11am to 1pm where they will also be available to offer advice on writing and getting published.
The free event is part of the Valley Press Fest which is run by Scarborough’s own publishing company and will also feature further readings by its authors taking place at Scarborough Library from 2pm to 4pm.
Graham Taylor, one of the owners of Taylors, said it would be an ideal opportunity for budding poets to find out more about the craft and also the first of many literary events to take place at the venue.
He said: “Some of Yorkshire’s finest poets will be doing readings and signing books.
“It’s a free event and people can listen to readings, meet the poets and find out more about getting published.”
