Boost for wartime weekend

TWO iconic Whitby vehicles will be taking passengers to a bygone era as part of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway’s “Railway in Wartime” weekend which for the first time is extending into the seaside resort.

Charlotte the charabanc and Whitby’s old lifeboat, the Mary Ann Hepworth, will be giving trips around the town over October 14-16.

Last year’s wartime weekend saw more than 26,000 extra people visiting Pickering alone, with many dressed in 1940s costume, enjoying food and entertainment authentic to the period.
