Scarborough Jobmatch has helped more than 200 people into employment over the past 12 months.

The organisation, an initiative of Scarborough Borough Council and delivered by community charity Groundwork, offers an employment support service which tailors the help it provides according to the needs of each individual.

Katie Brigham, Employment and Skills Partnership Manager at Jobmatch Scarborough was delighted with the results.

She said: “Over the last three years we have helped over 800 people into work.

“We see a real need for the more intense support some need through their journey into employment and I put the success down to the personalised approach we offer.

“We help with CV and application writing, interview techniques and short bespoke training such as confidence building, but we also get to know each individual to find out where their interests and skills lie and look for vacancies and work with partners that to achieve the roles they are best suited for. We meet clients as often as necessary to ensure they are confident and ready for the world of work.”

Simon Featherstone at Scarborough Borough Council, said: “Scarborough Jobmatch is performing a vital role in both helping local people find work but also in supporting businesses with all their recruitment needs.”

Scarborough Jobmatch played a key role in the launch of Scarborough Skills Village in September 2015, the Borough’s first real life construction training centre.

The Skills Village offers a range of courses including bricklaying, joinery and electrical and has already seen more than 50 students through its doors within the current academic year.
