The name Harry has done the double proving to be the top choice for new parents in Scarborough as well as nation wide.

The list of most popular baby names for 2012 is headed by Harry nationally as well as in Scarborough, while Poppy comes top for the girls locally compared to a UK top spot for Amelia.

One of Scarborough’s Harrys is Harry Norton who was born at Scarborough Hospital in October to parents Dan Norton and Danni Thompson of Durham Street.

Mr Norton said: “Harry is our first child and we chose to name him after my grandad Harold.”

Scarborough’s top boys names list also shares Jack with the national favourites, though while the name is third locally it scooped second in the uk chart.
