REMAINING land space from the Lebberston and Scarborough flyover has been transformed into a remembrance area for local residents.
Dozens of people turned up to the official launch of Osgodby’s Memorial Gardens, which the management committee now hopes will serve as a tranquil area of which the village can be proud.
Lynn King administrator of the management committee said: “We were absolutely delighted with the launch, there were more people than we ever expected.
“It’s just the start of the project, we’ve got lots more work to do; there’s more weeding and shrub planting in autumn.
“We’re hoping to erect memorial plinths, as all benches have now sold but there’s still the opportunity for people to make a contribution.
“We’ve had great interest, we just want people to enjoy the space and for it to be a focal point and well used area of the village.”
The garden received the backing of the Village Council, Community Association and In Bloom group, and the entrance border was designed and created by Lloyd Jones, winner of Osgodby’s Best Kept Garden in 2009 and 2010.
