The event, which is organised by Filey Lions Club, has raised thousands of pounds for charity over the years, and featured seven highly competitive races with riders and their donkeys keenly contesting the sprint events.

Richard Robinson, President of Filey Lions, said: “The Donkey Derby provides a lot of fun for all the family.

“On behalf of the Filey Lions Club I pay special thanks to the donkey owners and riders, local businesses and individuals who sponsor the race and the donkeys.

“Thanks also go to the Probus Club who give invaluable assistance on the evening as do our Lions Ladies on the stalls and the Tote.”
