THE ANNUAL Poppy Appeal is a vital source of funding towards our servicemen and women which the Evening News and our advertisers are proud to support.
In a recent feature we ran in the newspaper commemorating Remembrance Week, proceeds from advertisers went towards the Royal British Legion, resulting in a cheque donation for £93.31.
Scarborough’s Poppy Appeal organiser Beryl Adams said the donation was a great help to the charity and its cause.
She said: “As far as contributions go, we were so pleased the Scarborough Evening News was able to support the Poppy Appeal
“Every year they show support, it’s wonderful.
“The money raised will go to the benevolent fund.
“The Poppy Appeal is the single source of revenue for our charity which benefits young and old servicemen and women, their family and dependants.
“We always need help that’s why it’s so important to have the support from people that to contribute to this vital work.
“It’s donations like this that help Scarborough achieve such an outstanding total for the Poppy Appeal.”
Evening News advertising manager Nicola Fisher added: ”We really appreciate all the support from the customers who placed advertisements in the feature and we are delighted to help this cause.”
