Six engines from North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service are currently attending a fire in a scrap yard near Burniston.
The A165 is currently closed near Burniston due to a blaze at a scrap yard on Coastal Road.
At 5.10pm, North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service were called by a neighbour who could hear explosions coming from the site.
A spokesperson from North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said: "There are six appliances from Scarborough, Robin Hood's Bay, Pickering, Whitby and Filey in attendance."
It is believed that 80 scrap cars were ablaze.
The fire is currently surrounded and under control and is in the process of cooling down.
