Cadets from 739 Scarborough Squadron; Air Training Corps held two events to help raise funds for first aid training equipment.

A Christmas fair was held at St Marks Church, in Coldyhill Lane, raising £158, and a further bag packing event took place at Morrisons, as well as a tombola, which raised £955.19.

The equipment, which will cost £4,000, will teach cadets St John Youth First Aid, British Heart Foundation Heartstart and training in the use of automatic external defibrillators.

Flight Lieutenant Steven Lewis, commanding officer, said: “Our ultimate ambition is to open up training to the public and to have a publicly-accessible defibrillator at our HQ. We have applied to the Mayoress Fund and the Police Crime Commissioner’s Community Fund but donations will be appreciated.”
