Alistair in the fast lane after song deal

A WHITBY musician is set to be the driving force behind the world’s premier motor sport.

Alistair Griffin, of Castleton, will be heard by millions of Formula One fans after his song, Just Drive, was adopted by Sky Sports.

The tune has been taken on by the broadcasting giant as their official title music for their coverage of the racing.

Mr Griffin, a former contestant on BBC One show Fame Academy, first released the song in November 2010 and it was previously used on BBC One’s coverage of the sport.

The new version features the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra and the Berkshire-based Rodolfus Choir.

He said: “Formula One was the inspiration behind Just Drive and I always hoped it would strike a chord with fans of motorsport.

“I would love for Just Drive to become an anthemic song associated with the sport.”

l The Formula One season starts on Sunday March 18.
