A team of fundraisers will be showing their tough side for charity after signing up to what has been dubbed one of the most challenging obstacle courses in the country.

The group of friends from Scarborough are currently in training for the Yorkshire Tough Mudder challenge on September 7, in aid of Dreams and Wishes.

The team has been put together by Jaime Millard who has enlisted Alex Wilgras, who runs It’s In Your Jeans in Bar Street, Scarborough plumber Dean Macauley, Matthew Morton, of Morton’s Solicitors, Chris Hooper of the North Bay’s Military Adventure Park, Russ Wood and Louis Swithenbank.

With the aim of raising £10,000 the friends will be tackling Tough Mudder - a course of around 15 miles, designed by the Special Forces to test strength, stamina, determination and camaraderie.

All money raised will be donated to Dreams and Wishes, a charity which fulfils dreams of seriously ill children.

Mr Millard said: “I have done a few things for the charity in the past, and when I saw Tough Mudder I thought it would be something new, and a real challenge for us all, especially as we are aiming to do two laps of the course.

“I want to raise money for Dreams and Wishes as my friend Mahmood Mazhar, of Core Telecom, is an ambassador. It is a fantastic charity dedicated to helping seriously ill children and their families, whether by sending them on holiday or giving them the chance to meet their favourite celebrity.

“We’ve had a lot of support already, and I’d like to thank Kevin and Sandra McCabe, Simon Harrison and Terry Corcoran, but we’ve still got a way to go to our target.”
