Two North Yorkshire-based campsites have received AA Caravan and Camping Awards for 2017.

The Vale of Pickering Caravan Park at Allerston collected the AA Campsite of the Year award, while Cote Ghyll Caravan and Camping Park at Osmotherley received the award for being AA Campsite of the Year for the North East.

Since winning an AA regional award in 2013, Vale of Pickering Caravan Park owners Chris and Dianne Stockdale have continued to invest each year at their family park.

They travelled down to Sutton Scotney, Winchester, to be presented with the prestigious award at a glittering ceremony on Monday 20 March.

This year, the AA inspector was stunned by “the quality and design of the new state-of-the-art facilities block which has six fully-equipped wet rooms (one with bath; five with showers) and a very smart dish washing room”.

The inspector also said: “The woodland walk is an additional bonus and children of all ages have a choice of a fabulous play area and a ball games field”.

Cote Ghyll Caravan and Camping Park was hailed as “the perfect base for active people, with pony trekking, mountain biking and excellent moorland walking on the doorstep” adding “the well-appointed amenity block is a welcome addition to this attractive park”.
