THE Scarborough branch of Amnesty International is taking part in worldwide celebrations of the human-rights group’s 50th anniversary.
The branch has arranged for two speakers to visit the town.
Ahmed Bahar will talk on Arab poets as human-rights defenders and Dr Jay Prosser, reader in humanities at Leeds University, will give a presentation on his recent co-authored book, Picturing Atrocity: Photography in Crisis. Royalties from the book are being donated to Amnesty.
The talks will be given at Hull University’s Scarborough campus.
The branch will also have an AmnesTea and Write for Rights Day at the library on Saturday December 10, from 2-4pm.
