Police are appealing for information following a two-in-one burglary in Malton.

Thieves broke into a property on Wheelgate and took the keys to a white Vauxhall Astra before driving off in the car on Monday, December 29, at around 3am.

Around one hour later the vehicle was spotted at the Woodlands Stop and Shop BP garage on Wetherby Road in Harrogate, where two men filled up with diesel before driving off without paying.

The vehicles registration plate is YH14 KKM.

Officers are appealing to anyone with information that can help the investigation to come forward.

Detective Constable Toby Forsdyke, of Scarborough CID, said: “I am appealing to anyone who saw either one or two men walking around Malton town centre around the time of the car being stolen to get in touch.

“I would also like to speak to anyone who saw the white Astra travelling between Malton and Harrogate or beyond after 3am on Monday.”

Anyone who can help officers with their enquiries is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 2 – and ask for DC Toby Forsdyke or Malton police.
