Appeal after woman dies in car crash on the Castle Howard estate

North Yorkshire Police have opened a witness appeal following a car crash which claimed the life of a woman near Castle Howard.

The collision took place on Monday at 9.40pm when a silver Volkswagen Touran collided with a stone archway on a public road that runs through the stately home’s estate.

The woman, who was believed to be in her 60s, was sadly dead at the scene by paramedics.

Traffic Constable Mark Hutchings, of the Major Collision Investigation Team, said: “If you witnessed the incident, or saw the silver Volkswagen Touran involved prior to the collision, and have not already spoken to the police, please contact me as you may have important information that could assist the investigation.”
