SCARBOROUGH’S Support for Carers group is calling for volunteers over the coming winter months.
The charity is appealing for volunteer visitors to spend time with carers and the people they care for.
Clare Walters, manager of Support for Carers based in Londesborough Road, said: “We are asking people to think of others and make a difference to someone’s life by becoming a volunteer visitor, just tw0 hours on a day and time to suit them can make all the difference.
“We are asking for help to alleviate social isolation and depression which often comes with the cold winter weather. There are many who will be unable to leave their own home because of the fear of falling or because they are unable to leave the person they are caring for. We need to support these individuals and help them maintain their independence and good health.”
