ORGANISERS of a festive gift collection are saying a big “thank you” to kind-hearted Scarborough residents after they collected enough gifts to fill 105 Christmas shoeboxes.
They were given to the children of soldiers who are serving away from home and were delivered to Catterick Garrison earlier this month.
Appeal organiser Gary Smith, a representative from Scarborough branch of the Royal British Legion, said they had a lot of help from local businesses.
He added: “I would like to thank all the local businesses and individuals who contributed to the Kids At Catterick garrison Appeal.”
Mr Smith said they were made very welcome at the base and were planning to organise a similar appeal next year.
The items for the 105 boxes were collected over a three week period.
