FIVE authors will host a book-signing session at Waterstones in Scarborough tomorrow.
Besides being writers, the thing they have in common is that their work has been published by Scarborough’s Valley Press.
They are travel writer Steve Rudd, whose first book Pulse has just been released; Valley Press founder Jamie McGarry, who published his infamous book of snail poetry in April; and three poets whose first full-length collections were published in May and June – James Mcloughlin from Leeds, Helen Burke from York and Scarborough’s Jo Reed. The quintet will read from and sign copies of their books between 1pm and 4pm.
Mr McGarry is to judge a poetry competition at Waterstones. The prize is a copy of Pam Ayres’ forthcoming autobiography, The Necessary Aptitude.
To enter, write a witty poem and take it to the shop before September 15. Entries will be displayed in the shop.
