SAINT Catherine’s Hospice is launching its first sponsored walk for humans and hounds.

Dog owners can now sign up to Woof in a Wood, an eight-mile walk on July 29, which starts at Hackness Village Hall.

There is a registration fee for the handler of £10.

St Catherine’s fundraising team are getting their own dogs involved, which are pictured sporting the latest hospice bandanas, available from the hospice for £3.50.

Fundraiser Penny Campbell said: “We know how much pleasure a dog can bring. At the Hospice we are used to seeing family pets visiting our patients and bringing a welcome touch of normality to their stay in the Hospice.”

Capering canines will be rewarded with a Pets At Home doggy bag after the Seamer Road store backed the cause.

Mrs Campbell added: “Store manger Mike Southwick was delighted a member of his team, Steve Wardle, had chosen to support the hospice, and said that all of the staff were looking forward to promoting this event amongst their customers.”
