A SPONSORED walk organised by five-year-old Benjamin Johnson raised £542 to help children in Somalia.
The Braeburn Infant School pupil was so moved by images of children suffering in the African strife-torn country he decided to do something to help.
With mum Ellen, brother Joseph, four, pet Hunney and friends, Benjamin walked from his Eastfield home to the Mere and back.
“We were thrilled with the total,” said Ellen.
Scarborough photographer Max Payne donated £100, Benjamin’s dad’s colleagues at ACS & T gave £140, Eastfield-based Wheeley Limited donated £100 and money also came from staff at Braeburn as well as friends and family.
Cash will go to the Disaster and Emergency Committee.
