KIND-HEARTED students at a Scarborough school have given a huge boost to brain tumour charity Ellie’s Fund.
The Year 11 students at Scalby School raised well over £2,000 by organising a number of events.
These included gift wrapping in town during the Christmas period, organising fashion shows and prom shows.
The fundraising activities raised £1,615.25 and a further £606.21 was collected in by student David Sessions, who ran a half marathon in March.
Heather Othick, who set up the charity after her daughter Ellie, 14, passed away, said: “This is Ellie’s year group and she would have been finishing school with them all around now.
“I’m very proud of them all and I know Ellie would be too.”
The students, some of whom are Ellie’s Fund youth committee members, received a Borough’s Big Thank You award during a recent ceremony.
Ellie’s Fund helps local children who are battling a brain tumour.
