A SCARBOROUGH pilot is aiming to swap flying for jumping as he plunges from 10,000ft for a worthy charity.
Bill Tiplady, who is soon to turn 50 and regularly flies at the Bridlington Skydive Club, decided that for his birthday he would like to come out from behind the controls, and jump from an aircraft, to “tick another box in the list of life experiences”.
Bill, who will take the plunge on Saturday, said: “I decided against my better judgment to do a tandem jump from 10,000 feet, just to see what all the fuss was about.
“I decided as well that the jump would be a good way of raising money for charity, and I have chosen the Air Ambulance.
“Personally I think it is a shame in this day and age that this type of emergency service is only funded through charity.
“Where would we be without them?”
Bill runs his own business based in Scarborough, CB Ceilings Scarborough Ltd, and he is hoping for support from contacts in the building trade.
“I know a lot of people through the business - other local builders and businesses - and I am hoping those people will support the charity through my skydive.”
If any one wishes to help Bill in his support of the Air Ambulance via sponsorship for his skydive, they can do so by contacting him via email on firstname.lastname@example.org
