Prize vegetables, floral fancies and crafty creations were just some of the exhibits to impress the judges at an annual produce show.
Children and adults displayed their horticultural and tasty offerings at Newby and Scalby in Bloom Produce Show, held at the community rooms in Scalby on Sunday.
Although overall the number of entries were down in comparison to previous years, Newby and Scalby In Bloom chairman Peter Staveley said that in light of poor growing conditions, support remained strong.
“We expected it to be down on numbers considering the weather we’ve had but it all fell into place for us this time and it went very well,” said Mr Staveley. “We were very impressed with the entries. Orchard House in Scalby Road did us really proud in the handicraft entries.
“We keep trying to bring different attractions to get folk to come and there were a number of new exhibitors in categories which were down last year.”
Planning for the 2013 show begins in September and organisers are hoping for better weather and more visitors for next year.
