Bond theme proves a hit

TOURISM students from Scarborough’s Yorkshire Coast College were neither shaken nor stirred when they decided to organise a James Bond themed event as part of their coursework.

It was at the Palm Court Room in the Grand Hotel and they even borrowed a poker table from the town’s E Casino.

Andrew Widdowson, who teaches the second year students, said it went very well. He added: “The idea came from the students who wanted a themed event. It went very well. It was very successful and they raised money for the children’s ward at Scarborough Hospital.”

He said that the final total was not yet known but estimated that it would be a three figure sum.

“That is probably what their target was,” he said. “They all really enjoyed it and made sure it went well.”

The students have almost finished the level three National Diploma in Travel and Tourism.
