Plans are being finalised for a host of organised bonfire events across Scarborough on Tuesday.
Scarborough Lions Club is reminding people that their event will be back at Weaponness car park and that there will be ample parking provided.
Spokesman Alan Deacon said: “There is easy and controlled access for those on foot, with ample parking for vehicles.
“We would request everyone coming by car to use the car parking facilities and not park on the road causing upset and annoyance to the local residents.
“Your cooperation would be appreciated by the Scarborough Lions, as we look forward to a night of fun for all ages.”
Details of other organised displays are provided opposite. There will also be a display by Filey Lions, but this will take place on Saturday November 2 in West Avenue Car Park.
The lighting of the bonfire is at about 6.15pm and the fireworks display – will again be set to music – is due to start at 7.15pm. See page 98 for more details.
If you are having your own bonfire or fireworks display at home, both North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue and North Yorkshire Police are encouraging everyone to follow safety procedures to ensure a successful and safe night for all.
Yorkshire Wildlife Trust is also asking members of the public to be vigilant this coming Bonfire Night as hedgehogs can be found taking cover in wood piles.
Spokeswoman Joanna Richards said: “If at all possible do not construct your bonfire until a couple of hours before lighting it. If you do find a hedgehog when checking your bonfire before lighting, then keep it in a safe place until your celebrations are over. It is then safe to release it back under a hedge or bush.”
