The green, green grass of Scarborough Athletic’s new home was laid earlier this week, giving the club’s move to the town a more immediate feel.

There is still plenty of work to do at the Scarborough Leisure Village, but the laying of the state-of-the-art 3G turf has certainly excited a number of Boro fans and officials.

Chairman Trevor Bull said: “It is starting to look like a football stadium now.

“I have spoken to a number of people who have been on the ground tours and I’ve heard their excitement about the fact that we are nearly home.

“The leisure village as a whole is such an exciting thing for the town, but I’m sure we, as football fans, can be forgiven for being delighted to see the grass go down.

“I’m taking the board down at the end of the week, so we can have a look around and work out a few more finer details.

“This is a very exciting time for everyone.”
