SCARBOROUGH Boys’ Brigade has been given a welcome funding boost following a coffee morning and book sale.
The event, at Wreyfield Drive Methodist Church, raised £174 which will be put towards building a garage for the group’s minibus.
The Boy’s Brigade holds regular coffee mornings and this one featured stalls selling books, bric a brac and crafts.
Company captain Chris Bairstow said: “It was very successful and well supported by the public.
“It takes us further along the line in getting a garage built as the minibus is parked at a parent’s house at the moment.
“Having the garage will make things a lot easier all round.”
Mr Bairstow added that the group holds fairs and coffee mornings on a regular basis and has so far raised £11,000 towards the fund.
The next event will be a similar fundraiser at 16 Fairfield Crescent on June 4 from 10am to 2pm.
There will be refreshments on sale and a tombola.
Mr Bairstow said: “We have raised all the funds through people’s support and I would like to thank everyone who has helped us so far.”
The Boys’ Brigade is a Christian uniformed youth organisation for boys which meets every Wednesday at Wreyfield Drive Methodist Church.
The Scarborough group has been going since 1966.
