Three people have been tragically killed in a horrific early morning car smash on the B1248 between Wetwang and Norton.
The victims were pronounced dead on the scene by police. A further two people have been rushed to hospital with serious injuries.
North Yorkshire Police say the collision involved a car and a van travelling in opposite directions at around 6.08am on Wednesday 27 November.
The road is currently closed, and diversions have been put in place.
Officers are appealing for the driver of a van to come forward which was seen travelling along the B1248 towards Malton just after 6am and may have seen the vehicles immediately before the collision occurred.
A force spokesperson said: “The driver could be a vital witness to the incident and we urge them to come forward as a matter of urgency.”
The white van driver and any other witnesses are urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 and pass information to the Force Control Room
Officers are in the process of contacting the deceased’s next of kin.
