A TEAM from a Scarborough building supplies firm is to complete a 10,000ft parachute jump for charity.

The team of 19 from MKM Building Supplies will swap bricks, tiles and pipes for harnesses and parachutes when they take to the skies at Grindale Airfield on Saturday July 23.

All of the money raised will go to St Catherine’s Hospice.

General manager James West said: “The original idea to take up this challenge started during a social evening with colleagues and quickly escalated to a team of 19 of us wanting to take part.

“We have specifically chosen St Catherine’s Hospice as our charity to support, as it is a local charity serving our community with their specialist care and facilities.”

Anyone who wishes to sponsor the team can do so at MKM Building Supplies in Seamer Road.

All of the money raised will go towards patient care at the hospice.

Saint Catherine’s Hospice is heavily reliant on donations as the hospice only receives around 15 per cent of its annual income from the Government.

The current cost of providing all of hospice services across the 1600 square miles that St Catherine’s covers is £4.5 million.

The shortfall is made up through donations and fundraising.
