The owners of a Scarborough bistro restaurant were “honoured” to be invited by the French Ambassador for the UK, Mme Sylvie Bermann, along with the 24 other UK restaurants, to launch this year’s Good France / Goût de France event.
Mme Bermann hosted a reception at her residence at Kensington Palace gardens, in front of the French and British press and top chefs from London and around the UK, including Raymond Blanc.
Simon & Valérie Lazenby, owners of Lazenby’s on York Place, were part of the worldwide celebration of French cuisine.
Simon & Valérie said: “It’s an immense honour to be invited to the Ambassador’s residence to be part of this event and to be among such talented and interesting chefs and restaurateurs intent on passing on their flare, and passion for French Gastronomie.
“We are honoured to represent Scarborough, Yorkshire and the North Yorkshire Coast in this event.”
The pair then devised a special French gourmet menu which was served to diners recently.
The special Goût de France/Good France menu included apéritif et amuses-bouche, options of French cheese and a selection of home-made desserts.
Goût de France/Good France is a global initiative supported by the French Foreign Ministry.
Taking place in restaurants and French embassies around the world, including the French
Embassy in London, the event was aiming to showcase the vibrancy, creativity and innovation of French cuisine, while remaining true to the values of sharing, enjoyment and respect for good food and the planet.
