THE company behind the Royal Hotel may be known locally as simply English Rose Hotels, but the firm is actually split in two.
Administrators have been called in to take over English Rose Hotels Scarborough Ltd, which owns the Royal and the Clifton Hotel, in Queen’s Parade.
Its sister company English Rose Hotels Yorkshire Ltd, owns the Wrea Head Hotel, Scalby, the Hackness Grange Hotel, and The Green Man in Malton.Although not they are not affected by the administrators the Wrea Head and Hackness Grange are for sale.
MCR has been appointed as administrators of English Rose Hotels Scarborough. David Whitehouse, partner at MCR said: “The Clifton and the Royal have strong reputations and high levels of occupancy.
“There is significant interest in these hotels and we would expect to complete a sale of the hotels as a going concern over the coming weeks.”
