The new offices of The Scarborough News were the venue for the latest meeting of the board of a leading business group.

The Scarborough Business Ambassadors, which is behind the Engineering Week event and a variety of key activities to expand business enterprise, met at Newchase Court, off Hopper Hill Road.

The 10-member board includes representatives from companies such as Unison, the engineering specialists expanding into overseas markets including the US, Castle Group, Castle Employment and representatives from council, education, legal and hospitality services. The group invites a number of leading national and regional business speakers to its Ambassador Forums dinners with an average of 50 invited guests.

This year’s Engineering Week will take place from October 13-15, with the opportunity for students to see the work of many high-profile technical companies and to talk to people from the world of industry.

Attending the board meeting as guests to discuss plans for tourism and the P1 Power Boat event in May and other matters were Janet Deacon, of Welcome to Yorkshire, and Sue Gradwell, of the North Yorkshire Business Enterprise Partnership.
