Staff at the two locations are now being consulted on the move, which will take place in August.

There will also be an eBay collection point located in the supermarket.

The Newborough store's days were numbered when a developer bought the building it was located in with a plan to turn it into a town centre cinema.

A spokesman for Sainsbury’s said: “Our Scarborough store has been a part of the local community for a number of years and we’re looking forward to welcoming Argos and the team to our store.

“It is great for customers, who are looking for easier, more convenient ways to shop. We’re looking forward to feedback from customers about the increased range and offer.”
