SCARBOROUGH town centre’s newest addition officially opened its doors on Saturday, after a record breaking first few days.
BrightHouse in Westborough hosted a fun day to mark the event, with facepainting, a balloon modeller and a DJ on hand.
The store has been open to the public since the middle of last week, before the weekend’s grand opening.
According to area manager Darren Dobb, the Scarborough branch was on course to break nationwide records for the chain for the first five days of trade.
“We’ve been getting 50 customers a day signed up, which is fantastic,” he said.
A total of 13 new jobs have been created and Mr Dobb said the staff have started well.
“They’ve been brilliant,” he added. “They’ve all been on a two-month induction and have taken to it like ducks to water.”
Store manager Suzie Gibson said: “A lot of people have come to have a look and see what we’re about. I think the whole town has heard our DJ.
“The feedback we’ve had has been really positive. We’ve been well accepted by the town.”
Watford-based BrightHouse, which offers customers household goods on a rent-to-own basis, last week announced profits of £42 million for the last financial year.
They have 210 stores nationwide, and will open a new branch in Bridlington within two months.
