A caravan park in Cayton Bay has become the first in the town to offer year-round accommodation after having its licence extended.

Cayton Bay Holiday Park, owned by Park Resorts, is extending its season from nine months to year-round following a successful application to Scarborough Council.

The move marks an employment boost for the 200 staff at the park, many of which are now being offered year-round contracts, as well as two additional positions created in the sales team.

Peter Dallison, caravan sales manager at the park, says the extended season will also be of benefit to the local economy.

He said: “This is fantastic news for the local economy, particularly for Cayton itself.

“We have between 4,000 and 5,000 owners here every weekend. They bring money with them and normally go into Cayton, Scarborough and Filey to spend it while they are here on holiday.

“Having that money for 12 months of the year instead of just nine will bring prosperity to the region.”

Speaking about the boost to jobs, Mr Dallison added: “It is just good news for everyone at a generally difficult time.

“There will be more people full-time on the ground and in the sales office. We have taken this move because demand has been so high. This is providing more jobs, more sustainability and boosting seasonal employment to year-round.”
