TWO Scarborough businesses are celebrating after a calendar they collaborated on was highly commended in a recycling award.
Neil Fitzpatrick of Fitzpatrick Design and Richard Wood, from Richard Wood Photography, both based at Woodend Creative Workspace, produced the calendar featuring Scarborough Council’s binmen in ‘Calendar Girl’ poses.
As well as raising money for Help the Heroes and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, the Recycling Laid Bare calendar has now been highly commended in the British Aerosol Manufacturers Association’s Can Do Awards.
Mr Fitzpatrick said: “The original idea for the calendar came from the recycling department at the Council.
“They wanted a novel and humorous way to highlight the benefits of recycling.”
Each month featured local binmen and a strategically placed piece of rubbish, that could be recycled.
Mr Wood said: “Most of my work is photographing weddings, so this was certainly different, and it was great to help out on a project which raised some money for charity and highlighted the benefits of recycling.”
The Highly Commended Award will be presented to the council’s Recycling Department at a Town Hall ceremony on November 9.
