A Scarborough power specialist has been named as one of the best employers in the region after being highly commended as a Medium Employer of the Year.

Dale Power Solutions, based in Salter Road, won the accolade in the regional final of the National Apprenticeship Awards and National Training Awards 2012.

The finalists and winners were announced at a joint awards ceremony organised by the National Apprenticeship Service, held at Leeds College of Music.

Dale, which has been in business more than 77 years, specialises in providing standby power across many sectors including power utilities, oil and gas, telecommuncations, medical and financial services.

The company was recognised in the awards for the opportunities it offers apprentices. Tim Wilkins, chief executive at Dale said: “Reaching the National Apprenticeship Awards Regional Finals is terrific recognition of our commitment to apprenticeships and supporting young talent that become the future of Dale Power Solutions.”

Quality manager Mark Carter, who oversees Dale’s apprenticeships, added: “The success of our Apprenticeships programme is based around a great training provider, Derwent Training Association in Malton, a competent workforce who mentor our apprentices and the apprentices themselves who have a desire for success, an eagerness to learn and a determination.”
