THE final touches are being put to Scarborough’s new Premier Inn ahead of its opening next month.
A provisional opening date has been set for March 28 for both the hotel and Carousel Brewers Fayre restaurant.
The £6.1 million development will create 55 new jobs and bring a welcome boost to the local economy.
Steve Conway, head of marketing at Premier Inn, said: “We are delighted to bring a new hotel and restaurant to Scarborough. We can’t wait to welcome our guests to the new Premier Inn and Brewers Fayre restaurant in March.”
The development, on the corner of Vernon Road and Falconers Road, features a 74-bedroom hotel with adjoining restaurant which promises a “warm, family-friendly pub restaurant environment”.
The restaurant will offer a variety of themed buffet nights, including a Chinese night and a carvery.
Around 40 workers have been busy putting the final touches to the building before Premier Inn can start furnishing rooms and fitting out the public areas.
The Premier chain has more than 580 hotels in Britain and Ireland.
The company was first launched as Travel Inn in 1987 and then relaunched as Premier Inn in 2007.
The last purpose-built hotel in the town is thought to be Ryndle Court in Northstead Manor Drive, built in 1939.
