A new partnership has been signed between Scarborough Yacht Club and a Malton based insurance broker which will see a new main sponsor for the club until July 2015.

Ahead of the Scarborough Yacht Club Regatta on August 25, 26 and 27, broker McClarrons Ltd has vowed to support the club in the three year deal.

Scarborough Yacht Club is an established Training Centre and has a racing fleet of more than 60 boats.

And with the outer wall recently reinforced, the harbour can now be used for year-round sailing and has become popular with visiting yachts.

The leisure usage of the harbour has also grown in recent years following the addition of floating pontoon berths.

McClarrons, which provides insurance advice to commercial and personal customers, will now support the club as it provides sailing, sail racing, sailing events and social functions to junior, adult and senior members across the region.

Nick Taylor, Commodore at Scarborough Yacht Club, said: “We are delighted to welcome McClarrons as a long-term partner, not only because they are a company with an outstanding reputation, but because they are an organisation which shares our core values. We are continually striving to maintain and improve facilities and services to members; and sponsorships with local businesses are an important part of our plan.”

Sean McClarron, Managing Director of McClarrons Ltd said: “McClarrons and Scarborough Yacht Club are an excellent fit and I am delighted that we are able to work together over the coming three years.

“The development plan at Scarborough Yacht Club is very impressive and after the success of our British sailors at the recent Olympics, it is great to see the plans to encourage younger sailors and cadets. We are excited about the potential benefits that this alliance can bring to both parties.”
