It comes nearly two years after Mrs Davis was made redundant from her post at the Scarborough Building Society.

Mrs Davis said: “I always loved baking, and making cakes, so when I was made redundant I decided to do something in that industry.

“I started making cakes and designing cup cakes, and went round local tea rooms supplying them.”

That process led to Mrs Davis being offered a full-time job at Daisy Tea Rooms.

She said: “I decided that the job was for me.

“I just loved working there, and it gave me the experience so that it was an option to buy the business when the owners wanted to sell.

“I had never been self employed like this before, and I absolutely love it. I haven’t changed much, just a few things to add my touch.

“It’s such a lovely place to work, it’s a lovely location, and it’s a traditional tea room, which customers seem to really like.”
