Where will you find the seventh best B&B in the world? In Columbus Ravine, Scarborough!

You’ll recognise it by the Trip Advisor Travellers’ Choice winner’s plaque which was delivered this week to delighted owners, Ed Rippin and Jan Moore, of St Michael’s.

The awards are based on the reviews and opinions submitted in the past year from travellers on the world’s largest travel guide website.

Originally from Spalding in Lincolnshire, the couple relocated to Scarborough to take up a new venture after Ed was unable to continue his original line of trade as a scaffolder.

Jan Moore said: “We were surprised and very proud of our team and our achievement, having only been here 19 months.

“We moved to Scarborough because Ed has a bad back and couldn’t work anymore, so it’s good that something good has come out of something that was bad.

“We’re doing some more decorating and now we just want to push forward and keep on improving.”

The guest house was also judged to be the sixth best in Europe, fourth in England, and second in Yorkshire.
