NO new reports of sickness have been reported at Scarborough’s Grand Hotel in recent days.
Officers from the Health Protection Agency as well as Scarborough Council environmental inspectors were called to the historic venue late last week, after between 20 and 30 guests were struck down with a sickness bug.
However, manager David Aylott said yesterday that no new cases had been recorded.
“We’re open as normal,” he said. “Hopefully it’s all sorted out.”
It is believed that a viral gastrointestinal infection was passed among guests at the venue, although that has not yet been confirmed.
The results of tests to establish the exact cause of the illness are expected to take another week.
All guests were informed of the suspected outbreak, and specialist cleaning equipment was brought in at the hotel.
