SCARBOROUGH Harbour has a new addition to its speedboat collection following an investment from a pleasure boat operator.
Richard Tankard, has invested in a new speedboat in a move to boost his tourism trade.
The new boat, which is Mr Tankard’s third in the town, is licensed by Scarborough Council to take up to 12 passengers at a time. Its engines can generate up to 480 horsepower and in open water it can go at 35 knots.
It is the latest in a wide range and number of boat attractions at the harbour which include the historic Coronia and Regal Lady, both veterans of Dunkirk landings, The Hispaniola and the many day angling boats.
Cllr Mike Cockerill, cabinet member for Harbours, Land and Project Management said: “It’s really great to see this new addition to the harbour’s offering. Mr Tankard now has a number of speedboats operating from Scarborough and this latest boat is certain to excite those that are in search of that type of adrenaline fix.”
Mr Tankard added: “I have a long association with Scarborough and its continued attraction as a favourite resort to so many visitors, which has led me to invest in this new boat. I have had speedboats for a number of years but this really is something special.”
