SCARBOROUGH Cricket Club has made an executive appointment in a bid to promote its new £2 million facilities.
The North Marine Road ground was refurbished early last year; a project which saw improved seating, toilets, tea room and press box as well as a major make over to the pavilion.
In a bid to sustain the high quality facilities the club has appointed Lisa Bourne as its new sales and marketing executive.
Mrs Bourne, who previously worked in HR at Scarborough Sixth Form College, is tasked with promoting the venue across the town as a year-round option for events.
She said: “It was felt the hospitality market needed to be expanded upon further. My role is to promote the club in the Scarborough area both through hospitality during the cricket season, and for events throughout the year.
“I always had a love of cricket dating back to when my dad used to take me as a child every weekend through the summer. When this position came up it was just my dream job.
“We are trying to get more things going on in the pavilion. It gets a lot of use when Yorkshire are playing, but want to make it an all year round venue. What we have got here is a beautiful facility, but to keep it in this condition money will need to be spent. The more money we can bring in the better future we can ensure for it.”
Mrs Bourne said plans are already in place for race and quiz nights in the pavilion.
