A SCARBOROUGH out of school club has soared to the top of the class after an Ofsted report.

The Den, at Lindhead School, was graded ‘good’ by inspectors after impressing in the rigorous investigation.

The club, which has been open since 1999, welcomes youngsters between four and 12-years-old before and after school throughout term time.

It is also open for pupils in school holidays.

The report praised the educational provision on offer, adding the club allowed children to flourish in a “stimulating environment.”

It said: “Children are welcomed into the setting by a friendly staff team who meet each child’s needs well.

“Children make good progress towards the early learning goals in all six areas of learning.

“Effective partnerships with parents, carers and others ensure children are well supported in their learning and development.”

“Staff create a stimulating environment for all children and provide a range of activities based on children’s interests and new experiences.”

The report also cited the club’s ability to mix learning with fun activities, which served to heighten children’s knowledge.

It added: “All children are motivated to learn and enjoy taking part engaging in well planned activities and learning opportunities”

“Children work co-operatively with peers and younger children explain that they ‘enjoy being looked after by their older friends’.

“Children also learn about other cultures and beliefs, this is because the staff provide a variety of activities.”

Anita Huby, Playcare Manager, said she was thrilled with the report, which came thanks to a solid team effort.

She added: “The staff and management committee are delighted with the result.

“We are lucky to have a dedicated and enthusiastic team who all work well together.

“We are always looking to welcome new children too.”
